Hypnosis for Self-Improvement
Confidence, focus, habits, and performance under pressure are skills, and skills can be trained. I use hypnosis, Stoic philosophy, and NLP to help you rehearse the version of you that shows up when it counts.
Self-improvement can sound like a vague promise, so let me make it concrete. People come to me because something specific is getting in the way. They freeze in meetings. They can't focus for more than ten minutes. They know exactly what they should do and still don't do it. They perform well in practice and fall apart when it matters.
Underneath, these usually come back to one of three things: a belief that doesn't serve you anymore, a habit that runs on autopilot, or a nervous system that floods under pressure. My work targets all three.
Confidence
Confidence isn't a personality trait you either have or lack. It's a feeling that follows experience. When you've done something before and come through it, you trust yourself a little more next time. The problem is that many of us carry old conclusions about ourselves, often formed years ago, that never get updated.
In hypnosis, we revisit those conclusions and rehearse new experiences vividly enough that your mind starts to treat them as familiar. NLP helps change the inner voice that talks you down. If you've ever felt like a fraud despite your achievements, my piece on imposter syndrome is worth a read, and confidence is built, not born goes deeper on this theme.
We also look at the evidence you already have. Most people discount their own wins and remember every stumble, and part of the work is learning to keep a fairer record of yourself.
Focus
Focus is attention you can direct and hold. Distraction, worry, and mental noise all pull it apart. Hypnosis is itself a state of focused attention, which makes it a natural way to train focus: each session is practice at narrowing your attention and keeping it there.
We also look at what drives the distraction. Sometimes it's stress, sometimes boredom, sometimes avoidance of a task that feels too big. My post on hypnotherapy for focus explains more, and if procrastination is part of the picture, hypnotherapy for procrastination is a good next step.
Habits
Most of what we do each day runs on habit. That's efficient, until the habit is one you've outgrown: scrolling at midnight, skipping the workout, reaching for your phone the moment you feel bored, putting off the hard task until tomorrow.
Habits run on a loop of cue, routine, and reward, which I explain in the habit loop. In session we identify your loop, change what the cue means, and rehearse a new routine in hypnosis until it feels natural. Stoic discipline helps here too. For the Stoics, daily practice was the whole point of philosophy.
We also keep the new routine small enough to do on your worst day. A habit you can only keep on good days isn't a habit yet.
Performance under pressure
Whether it's a presentation, an interview, an exam, a recital, or a big game, pressure changes your body. Your heart races, your hands shake, and your thinking narrows. Many people perform well when nothing is at stake and struggle when something is.
We work on two levels. First, your nervous system: we rehearse staying steady in the situations that used to flood you. Second, your attention: Stoic training in putting your focus on what you control, which is your preparation and your effort, rather than on the outcome or the audience. My posts on hypnotherapy for performance and public speaking go into this in detail.
Rehearsal matters here. Athletes, musicians, and speakers have long used mental rehearsal to prepare, and hypnosis makes that rehearsal more vivid and absorbing.
Why insight alone rarely changes behavior
Most people I work with already know a lot about what holds them back. They've read the books, listened to the podcasts, maybe worked with a coach. Insight matters, but knowing why you procrastinate rarely stops you procrastinating. The gap between knowing and doing is where most self-improvement stalls.
Hypnosis works in that gap. In a calm, focused state, the part of you that argues and analyzes steps back, and we can rehearse the new behavior directly. The Stoics would have recognized the idea: for them, a philosophy you couldn't live was no philosophy at all.
Between sessions, you keep the practice going with something small and repeatable, so the change shows up on ordinary days as well as in big moments.
How the method fits together
- Hypnosis creates a calm, focused state where new responses are easier to learn and rehearse.
- NLP works with the language and mental images that shape how you see yourself and your situation.
- Stoic philosophy gives the work its direction: build what is in your control, and stop spending energy on what isn't.
The aim is a version of you that responds differently by default, rather than one that has to fight itself every day.
Who this is for
Self-improvement isn't only for executives or athletes. I work with students preparing for exams, parents who want to feel steadier at home, workers going for a promotion, retirees starting something new, and business owners who need to perform under pressure. If you want to change how you think, feel, or respond, this is for you.
You don't need a big goal to start. One pattern you'd like to change is enough.
What sessions look like
- Intro session (1 hour, $199). We identify the belief, habit, or pressure response that's holding you back. You experience hypnosis for yourself and leave with a clear plan and your first tool.
- Follow-up sessions (1 hour, $260 each). Each one targets one specific pattern and rehearses the new response until it feels familiar.
- Packages. If you'd like a set arc from the start, the 6-session package and the ArcState program give the work structure.
I suffered with really bad anxiety and low confidence, but after a few sessions I really came into my own, using stoicism to navigate my life on my terms.

Hypnotherapy is a wellness service. It does not diagnose or treat medical or mental health conditions, and it works alongside care from a doctor or licensed professional, never in place of it.
Two ways to begin
Intro and follow-up sessions are one hour, private, and held over Zoom. We start with an intro session, and each follow-up builds on it.
Intro Session
Understand what drives your pattern, experience hypnosis for yourself, and leave with a clear plan, your first calming tool, and a session recording.

Each session targets one specific pattern. You leave with a rehearsed new response, a session recording, and a practice to reinforce it.

Self-improvement: common questions
- Can hypnosis help with self-improvement?
- Hypnosis can help you change the beliefs, habits, and stress responses that hold you back, by rehearsing new responses in a calm, focused state. Results vary from person to person, and practice between sessions helps the change settle.
- Can hypnotherapy help with confidence?
- Many people use hypnotherapy to work on confidence. We revisit old conclusions about yourself, change the inner voice that talks you down, and rehearse new experiences so they start to feel familiar.
- Can hypnosis improve focus and concentration?
- Hypnosis is a state of focused attention, so each session is practice at directing and holding your attention. We also work on what drives distraction, such as stress or avoidance. Hypnotherapy does not diagnose or treat ADHD or any other condition, but it can work alongside care from your doctor.
- Is hypnosis for self-improvement only for professionals?
- Not at all. I work with anyone who wants to change how they think, feel, and respond, including students, parents, workers, retirees, and business owners.
- How many sessions will I need?
- It depends on what you want to change. We start with a one-hour intro session ($199) to map the pattern and give you your first tool. Follow-up sessions ($260 each) target one pattern at a time. Some people prefer the structure of the 6-session package. We'll decide together, honestly, what makes sense for you.
